Grand Pasha Hotel & Casino (Kyrenia, City Centre)

West of Kyrenia Castle, we find ourselves at that ironic spot where you can smell the sea but cannot touch its salt. Grand Pasha Hotel is a 128-room city hotel set just 150 metres from the shore. You can see the water through the trees, but there is no beach in between; that stretch of coast does not belong to them.

This odd luxury of being nose to nose with the sea while longing for the water sums up the hotel's whole character: a base from which guests stroll down elegantly to Kyrenia harbour in the evening, and in the morning have no choice but to wait for the beach shuttle if they want to feel sand underfoot.

So what awaits us behind the scenes of this "love it from a distance" hotel? Board limits that can catch your wallet off guard, the details of that compulsory beach exile, the real face of the rooms and the actual surprises in store for families with children...

Just Five Minutes to the Castle

Kyrenia's casino hotels roughly fall into two groups: the resorts stretched along the coast and the central hotels set inside the town. Grand Pasha belongs to the second group, sitting in the same cluster as harbour-area hotels like Rocks and Les Ambassadeurs, and because the harbour is within walking distance you are not confined to the property in the evening. The castle is a kilometre away, five minutes by car. Getting to the door from Ercan Airport takes around forty-five minutes. Having opened on 8 October 2013, this is not a new property; it is running its thirteenth season. On the management side two names circulate: the corporate page lists a 25 percent stake held by "Başman Group", while booking correspondence is handled under the name "Pasha International". Since there is a separate hotel with the same name in Nicosia, we recommend checking the city line on the booking screen; that building is definitely not the same place as this one. Being central is not a side feature here, it is the hotel's main promise.

Four Fifths of the Rooms Are Standard

Of the 128 rooms, 103 are standard. The hotel tells you from the outset: "You will most likely be staying here." Across the whole property that leaves 12 corner suites, 12 executive suites and a single accessible room that stands out like a lottery prize. If you use a wheelchair, you will need to join the booking race months in advance to secure that one room. All of the standard rooms have land views. If you dream of opening the curtains in the morning and stretching towards the sea, leave that dream at home; here you greet the day with a piece of land.

The bad news is that there is no "family room" either, so a family with children has to choose between a standard room and a suite. And what if you are a large family? You may need to take two separate rooms, because squeezing into one is not a plan at this hotel. As there is only one accessible room, a guest arriving with a wheelchair needs to book early. In a hotel where a hundred and three rooms are of the same type, the real choice is made not at the room tier but on the date.

The Beach Is at Vuni Palace

The hotel has no sandy beach of its own, and no jetty or platform has been built on the shore either. The hundred and fifty metres to the sea are therefore a walking distance, not a swimming area. For guests who want to get into the sea, a shuttle leaves every day for the beach at "Vuni Palace", where sunbeds and umbrellas are provided free of charge to Grand Pasha guests. The shuttle starts on 10 May and ends on 1 November, meaning there is no vehicle going to the beach for six months of the calendar. A guest arriving in April or November watches the sea from the shore and spends the day at the pool, because this has been solved within the hotel itself: an outdoor pool in the garden, an indoor pool in the building and a children's pool as well. The beach shuttle is not a privilege; it is a solution that covers the hotel's shortcoming.

Lunch Is Not in the Package

The concept is half board... Is lunch included in the package? Generally not; while breakfast and dinner are included, you are asked to pay separately for lunch and most drinks. Breakfast at "Vrisi Restaurant" opens at seven in the morning and usually closes at ten, which is the time to keep in mind for late risers. For lunch and dinner you move to Harissa, where the room operates in both buffet and à la carte formats. In the summer months "Buffavento Terrace Bar" is added, while the Irish Pub is open all day and its bill usually runs separately from the hotel account. For guests used to an ultra all-inclusive resort, this is the real difference: at Grand Pasha Hotel you decide what to eat at lunchtime and you pay the bill yourself. Still, this should not be counted as a shortcoming, because the harbour restaurants can be reached without a car and the hotel's location is chosen precisely for that.

A Thousand Square Metres of Spa, a Seven-Hundred-Seat Hall

"Grand Deluxe Spa" exceeds a thousand square metres, a good ratio for a hotel of one hundred and twenty-eight rooms. The Turkish bath and sauna are in the spa area, massage is charged separately, and the fitness centre is in the same section. The meetings and weddings side is served by the seven-hundred-seat "Vienna" ballroom, so a group arriving for a congress finds the hall and the rooms under the same roof. The casino operates as a separate section and the "TRNC rule" applies at its door: guests under 25 and residents of North Cyprus are not admitted to the casino. Do not assume it is a coincidence that a small hotel carries such a large spa; we would say it is the city hotel's answer to the days without a pool.

The Mini Club Starts at Four

The nice part is that there is a mini club. The kids' club accepts children aged four to eleven free of charge. Babysitting for ages one to four is charged, and the hotel asks for at least twenty-four hours' notice. As for the accommodation rate, children aged zero to six stay free as long as they share their parents' bed. Beyond the age of six an extra charge may apply, and the amount is confirmed at the time of booking. The club's upper limit ending at eleven matters most to the family of a twelve-year-old, because that age is not admitted to the club while falling into the surcharge band. The conclusion is clear: the hotel's children's arrangements are built around younger ages, and a child of middle-school age spends the day with their parents.

The Date Sets the Price

It is not possible to write a single figure for the nightly rate at "Grand Pasha Hotel", because the result depends on which room you want in which week. (As we mentioned before, the date matters a great deal.) The current offer sits on the hotel's or the agency's page for that day. There is one more detail: a nightly rate that looks the same as an ultra all-inclusive resort does not cover lunch and drinks here. The two prices may look the same, but you are not buying the same thing.

The 2026 summer season is dated from 1 April to 31 October, but the season opening in April does not start the beach shuttle on that day, because the shuttle waits for 10 May, and a guest arriving in early May spends those weeks by the pool. Guest reviews written in August 2026 describe the hotel as open while also carrying out renovation work.

The hotel does not separately announce an operating calendar covering the winter months. The summer season ending in late October and the beach shuttle stopping in November suggest that some facilities scale down after November. So the question for a guest booking a room for December is obvious: are the indoor pool and spa open that week? It is wiser to get the answer from the hotel while booking, so we would say this is the last question to ask before choosing the date. We hope you enjoyed our article.
