The swimming season runs from June to October, and September is simply summer carrying on: the sea is still 28°C while the crowds thin out. November is for hardy swimmers, with the water at 20–24°C at the start of the month and cooling as it goes; from December to March the sea sits at 15–18°C and the rain arrives, though even January has about six hours of sunshine a day.
The figures are for Kyrenia. Famagusta and Iskele on the east coast run about 1–1.5°C warmer in the summer daytime, and inland Nicosia is 5–6°C hotter than the coast in summer, which is why the live table shows it as air only.
