Merit Crystal Cove Hotel & Casino (Kyrenia)
📍 Alsancak Mevkii No:860, Zephyros Bay, Kyrenia
Right now, in these September–October days of 2026, when you step through the door of Merit Crystal Cove Hotel & Casino you are in effect entering a property that is barely “five weeks” old. The hotel broke months of silence on 27 July 2026 and began welcoming guests again.
The closure had been announced in November 2025 through a Merit Turizm statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), which stated that the property would not operate until 15 July 2026. It is worth remembering that the hotel’s history goes back much further… Operating in Alsancak on the shore of Zephyros Bay since 2000, the property is known as North Cyprus’s first ultra all-inclusive hotel. That is why, for someone staying at the hotel today, taking old reviews as a direct reference is not quite right. During the months-long renovation, the rooms, restaurants, lobby and communal areas were reworked from scratch. The one section left out of the renovation was the 69-room new block that had entered service earlier. Throughout this period the Merit Group’s other hotels continued to operate; the long closure applied to Crystal Cove alone. News of the reopening surfaced on 24 July through reports based on KAP filings. In fact, this was not the hotel’s first maintenance break either: between 7 April and 7 May 2025 it stayed closed for roughly a month for plumbing and installation works. The 2026 work we are describing, however, was far more extensive.
In short, when reading a Crystal Cove review from before 2025, you should not match it one-to-one with today’s hotel. The address and the history may be the same, but a serious renovation has been carried out, particularly in the rooms and communal areas.
Zephyros Bay, Ten Kilometres from Kyrenia
Although it shares the bay with Merit Royal Diamond and Premium, the audiences these properties cater to are as different as night and day. Are you looking for a relaxed holiday with your child, or adults-only quiet? Royal Diamond hosts adults with a minimum age of 14, whereas the 2000-built Crystal Cove is entirely family-focused and, with a kids’ club that has a dedicated baby section, can make parents’ lives easier. The property’s beachfront position offers a flawless daytime experience. But once evening plans enter the picture there is a small snag: if you want to go down to Kyrenia Harbour for dinner, how will you cover that 10-kilometre journey? Are you prepared to factor the taxi fare into your holiday budget from the outset?

Room Stock Has Risen to 345
According to Merit Turizm’s latest KAP statement in July 2026, the hotel’s room count reached 345 following the extensive renovation works. If you still see the figure 340 on Net Holding’s website while planning your holiday, do not be confused, as that number dates from before the refurbishment. There is no contradiction in the information, merely a delay in updating the corporate pages.
If room size is a deciding factor in your accommodation choices, you need to read the measurements here carefully. According to approximate data drawn from agency records, the property offers guests five different room types. The entry-level Deluxe Standard rooms start from 28 square metres. Compared with the 35.5-square-metre standard rooms at Royal Diamond, the neighbouring property right next door, the basic rooms here are, we would say, more compact. If you are looking for genuine spaciousness within the property’s architecture, you should make your choice directly from the suite tier.
The suite options begin with the 32-square-metre Junior Suite and continue with the 56-square-metre classic Suite. The Honeymoon Suite, designed specifically for honeymooning couples, offers 62 square metres of living space, while the hotel’s largest option is the 84-square-metre VIP Suite.
The Bay, the Pools and a Small Aquapark
The beach is in the private bay in front of the hotel. The Merit properties along the Alsancak strip combine a sandy beach with a jetty, and this bay follows the same arrangement. On the pool side there are two outdoor pools. For guests arriving in the colder months there is a heated indoor pool, plus a separate indoor children’s pool. The aquapark is smaller in scale and consists of colourful spiral slides, a mini park and a wave pool… Is that enough for a child waiting for a slide? That, of course, depends on age. A pre-school child could fill a whole day in this area, whereas a ten-year-old wanting tall slides may head back to the pool after a couple of runs. It is certainly not on a scale to be compared with “Acapulco” and its 24-slide park. The area here functions as a children’s corner added to the hotel’s beach and pool line, so we would suggest planning accordingly…
Two Kitchens That Close on Tuesdays
There are two à la carte restaurants for dinner, and both are closed on Tuesdays. So what happens on a Tuesday evening? On that day the only option is the open buffet in the main restaurant, which is in any case the backbone of the ultra all-inclusive package. “Ottoman Kebab House” is devoted to Turkish cuisine and is open from 19.00 to 23.00 in the summer season and from 18.30 to 22.30 in winter. The “Lambusa” fish restaurant also serves every evening except Tuesday. Both require a reservation, and neither is included in the package; the cost is charged separately. Between meals, a snack bar and a patisserie bar fill the gaps. The Spa & Wellness centre sits under a separate roof: the hammam, sauna and steam room are gathered here, with massage, aromatherapy, skincare, yoga and fitness in the same place. Swedish massage is listed by name on the massage menu.
A Separate Baby Section at Meritta Club
The “Meritta Club” kids’ club opens at 09.00 in the morning and closes at midnight, the same hours seven days a week. Its real distinguishing feature is the age banding: there is a separate section for ages 0-3 and another for ages 4-12. Children under four enter with a parent. A nappy-changing room, a nursing room and closed-circuit cameras are also part of the club’s facilities. For families wanting to go down to dinner without the baby, a babysitting service is available by appointment; it can be called at any hour of the day and is charged separately. This detail sets one address apart from another within the group, because the kids’ club at “Merit Park” in Karaoğlanoğlu most probably will not take a baby under three.
The club’s B floor is said to have been completely renovated between 13 January and 28 March 2025… At the entirely opposite end of the same property stands the casino: a separate 3,650-square-metre section, and guests under the age of 25 and residents of North Cyprus are not admitted under any circumstances.
August-September Prices and Notes on the Winter Season
As of August-September 2026, nightly room rates on agency pages start from around 31,080 TL. On sites that price the package per person the unit is different: ultra all-inclusive 240-320 euros, half board 210-290 euros. The figures we mention here may vary by date and room type; the exact amount only becomes clear in the quote at the time of booking. The same pages count May to September as high season. The hotel is on sale in winter too, and there are reviews from guests who spent the New Year period here. Note, though, that since some of the outdoor services are scaled back in December, the place to be in that period is the heated indoor pool.
On “Tripadvisor” Merit Crystal Cove carries a score of 4.6/5, with the number of reviews having reached around 1,378. But how many of these reviews belong to the renovated hotel? PLEASE think about this detail.
Since this number has accumulated over the years, it is obvious that most describe the pre-renovation period; fresh reviews will appear in the coming months, and a more specific picture can then be formed. The reviews most often mention the beach, the pools, the kids’ club and the variety of food. Cleanliness, spacious rooms, the live music in the evenings and the warm atmosphere are also among the frequently praised items. In other words, the five-week-old new hotel’s report card has not yet been written; the score in your hands is an average left over from before the renovation.
