Kaya Artemis Resort & Casino (Bafra)

When a property has 739 rooms, the daily rhythm of your holiday is set not by the name of the room but by the block it stands in. Kaya Artemis Resort & Casino opened in the Bafra Tourism Area in 2007 and was renovated from top to bottom in 2016. Its columned structure, inspired by the ancient Temple of Artemis, spreads across the gardens, with the beach and the aquapark on the same grounds. More than a few guests confuse it with the same group's Kaya Palazzo in Kyrenia, yet the two are separate properties in location, scale and concept. On the booking screen you are really making two decisions: which section you will stay in, and whether you will use the aquapark.

Where Do Nightly Rates Start?

The cost of those two decisions also starts in the same place, with the nightly rate. It should be noted that between August and September 2026, nightly rates on agency sites start from the twenty thousand TL band. Since room type, date and campaign set the figure together, the same hotel produces two different prices on two different days. The exact amount has to be obtained from the hotel or the agency. What matters more than the band itself is what that band covers, and what determines the coverage is the concept: the property runs on an ultra all-inclusive basis. From the sun lounger to the slide, no extra money leaves your pocket in daily use. The items outside the package are limited and known from the outset: the à la carte restaurants, spa treatments and the casino tables. A large family looks at the nightly figure first, but the real comfort comes from spending being predictable.

The Walk Between the Main Building and the Holiday Village

I understand only too well those who fall for that tempting "best price" trap when booking a holiday and skip over the distances on the map, because there is a world of difference between the hotel's 163-room main building and the 576-room holiday village blocks spread across the gardens. In the main building life is easy: you step out of the car, grab your suitcase and reach reception and the main restaurant within seconds. But the moment you land in the holiday village blocks, you find yourself feeling less like a guest at a holiday resort and more like an athlete in a fitness test. Walking to breakfast, coming back from dinner, then the pool, then the beach; you cover that route at least four times a day. If you have a partner battling a pushchair, a family member in a wheelchair or an elder who says "this is as far as I go" at the slightest slope, that distance becomes many times more important than the price. If you do not want to walk for kilometres, pay close attention to those innocent-looking block names on the booking screen.

The category name is often misleading, so it is worth looking at the square-metre line. A family of five also looks first at how many beds fit in.

Shallow Sea and the Sun Lounger Equation

The beach is two hundred and fifty metres long and belongs to the hotel. Because the sea begins with a shallow entry, a child who wades metres out into the water still keeps their feet on the bottom, and the pier at the end of the beach opens up a separate space for both walking and photographs. In August the picture changes: two hundred and fifty metres of sand is tight for a 739-room property, and anyone who wants a sun lounger heads down right after breakfast. For those who cannot find a spot on the beach, the second address is the pool; alongside six outdoor pools there is also a heated indoor pool, and that is the one that runs in winter.

The Slides Split the Day in Two

In the aquapark, four slides with known names and lengths stand out; the longest is the hundred-and-thirty-metre rafting slide, the shortest the thirty-nine-metre free fall. The slides run in two sessions a day, from ten to one in the morning and from two to five in the afternoon. During the one-hour closure in between, nobody lets the child waiting at the foot of the stairs go up, and that hour goes to the pool or to lunch. A family with children effectively builds its day at Kaya Artemis around these two blocks, so the evening programme also needs to be planned around these hours.

Breakfast at Agora Ends at Half Past Ten

In the main restaurant Agora, breakfast opens at seven in the morning and ends at half past ten, with a half-hour extension granted to late risers. Dinner starts at half past six in winter and at seven in summer. Since a winter timetable is written separately, the kitchen is open in December too. The same winter-summer difference applies to the night buffet, though which bars have shortened hours is not stated on the hotel's side. There are three à la carte restaurants entered by reservation: Poseidon for fish, Köz for ocakbaşı grill and the third, Sirus. As all three work with limited capacity, setting up the evening plan as soon as you arrive costs less than hunting for a table in the middle of the holiday. Casino Restaurant, Beer Garden and Food Court stay open during the day. The names of the seven bars mostly come from the property's temple theme. On the spa side, two separate sections operate under the names Diana and Hera, and both have a sauna, hammam and massage.

Where Do the Age Rules Apply?

The lifeline for families with children on holiday, Mini Club, accepts little ones aged 4 to 12; with its own playground and a separate children's pool, it gives parents a real breather. Of course, if you have come with a little one who has not yet turned four, be ready to roll up your sleeves, because that age group cannot enter the club and the whole day's shift on the shallow beach and in the pool falls entirely to you. Fortunately, for those bundles of energy who have been running around all day, a mini disco kicks off towards nine in the evening. This hour is a real lifesaver for families who want to linger a little over dinner at the à la carte restaurant; while you enjoy your meal, the child is still having fun inside the programme.

The real "age gate" at the other end of the property is on the adult side, at Artemis Casino. Entry is completely free, wonderful, but you may get a small shock when you reach the door. If you are under 25, or you live or study in North Cyprus, then sorry, but stepping inside is impossible. The most annoying part is this: nobody reminds you of this vital rule at the booking stage; you learn it entirely at the door, eye to eye with the security chief. So to avoid saying "we'll get in anyway" in the excitement of the holiday and being turned away at the door, it pays to read the rules from the start!

Arriving in Bafra and the Winter Calendar

The property stands in the Bafra Tourism Area, thirty-two kilometres from Famagusta. The distance to Ercan Airport varies between fifty-five and seventy-five kilometres depending on the source. The transfer from Ercan Airport is included in the package between half past six in the morning and half past ten in the evening. So what happens if you arrive on a flight that falls outside these hours? A private transfer is charged separately, so a guest with a night arrival needs to factor that difference in when buying the ticket. For summer visitors, the rest of the holiday is determined by the choice between main building and holiday village and by whether you use the aquapark. For winter visitors the decision is simpler anyway: Kaya Artemis stays open all year, but the beach and Mini Club do not operate in winter, and some restaurant and bar hours are shortened. A guest arriving in December finds the indoor pool, the two spa sections and the restaurants open.
