New Year's Eve 2027 in Cyprus: Gala Programmes and Booking Guide

Thinking about spending New Year's Eve in Cyprus? On 17 September 2026, QuoVadis's Cyprus New Year programmes page still carried the line "departure 31 December 2025, return 2 January 2026". In other words, the figures in the shop window belong to last season, not to New Year 2027. There is nothing wrong with the page. The industry usually releases new-season pricing in October and November, so anyone deciding in September has no firm figure to work with, only last season's price band and the rules that do not change. On the pages we reviewed, it is those rules, not the price, that decide the matter...

The Four Items Inside the Price

A New Year package bundles the flight, the airport transfer, two nights' accommodation and the gala ticket into a single figure, and since the advertised price is per person in a double room, remember that a couple pays that figure twice. Our advice is to read the number as four separate items.

Last New Year season, in 2025, the band was 30,000-55,000 TL per person. Salamis Bay Conti went on sale from 30,399 TL on an ultra all-inclusive basis, while Kaya Artemis sat in the upper half of the band at 49,999 TL. The difference comes down to the board concept and the name that takes the stage.

The concept line on the booking page matters as much as the price, because at an ultra all-inclusive property the open buffet and local drinks are included in the fee, whereas on full board three meals are included but drinks are usually paid for separately. The gala night is set up independently of the daily board, and because the menu and the drinks coverage for that night vary from hotel to hotel, you can see a serious difference between two properties...

The Two-Night Minimum

While the coverage varies from hotel to hotel, there is no such flexibility on the length of stay: at all five hotels we compiled last season the duration was exactly the same, and the standard length for New Year packages with a gala programme is two nights and three days. Agency pages still hold that length fixed today.

Can you buy a gala ticket for a single night? At some properties you cannot, because the ticket is sold embedded in the accommodation price. For a programme with a headline concert, the property requires a minimum stay of two nights to attend and does not sell the ticket separately; no three-night-or-more requirement has been announced. Working the sums on two nights is enough.

Can Children Enter the Gala Hall?

If a child is coming too, the calculation splits in two, though the accommodation rules barely move. Ages zero to six are free, ages seven to twelve are partly discounted, and at most properties the discount covers a single child accompanied by two adults.

This is where the distinction you need to watch begins. The accommodation rule and the hall rule are not the same thing, and there is no common standard in the gala hall. One property issues free tickets to ages zero to six and discounted tickets to ages seven to eleven, while its neighbour can admit two children aged zero to twelve free of charge. On top of that there is a third practice: children under twelve are not admitted to the hall at all, and a separate area is set up for them with a dinner and games programme run by the animation team.

A separate hall is not a bad thing; children can relax among their peers. Still, for a family that wants to see midnight in at the same table as their child, this distinction changes the night from the outset, so have the child's date of birth entered on the booking and clarify the hall's age rule before you confirm.

Cancellation Cover Is Switched Off at New Year

The payment plan in a Cyprus New Year package holds no surprises: the common rule at agencies is fifty percent on booking and the remaining fifty percent seven days before check-in. If your plans fall through, does that money come back? In normal periods, cancellation cover gives you an unconditional right to cancel up to 72 hours before check-in, but one agency's cover page states the limit plainly: "Cancellation insurance does not cover the special periods set by the properties and airlines (New Year, religious holidays and similar)". So for a 31 December booking, that cover does not apply at most agencies.

Let us say this from the start: in some contracts you may come across a tiered cancellation fee. For special-period bookings, a cancellation made earlier than 29 days out can cost half the tour price, and a cancellation 15 days out or closer can cost all of it. This clause is not the same at every agency. Only the withdrawal line of the contract shows the difference, so do not pay the fifty percent without reading it.

December Weather and What Stays Open

A plan that cannot absorb a cancellation fee has to factor in the weather from the outset. December is the wettest month of the year in Kyrenia. The daytime average is 18 degrees and the night average 11, with rain on roughly eleven days a month; on the other hand, the beach side of the resorts is closed at New Year anyway. Snow does not enter the equation; apart from the high ground of the Kyrenia Mountains (Beşparmak), it simply does not appear.

The fact that rain has in recent years been compressed into short bursts directly concerns the gala night, because a stage set up in the open is hit hardest by a sudden downpour. The seller will not tell you outright where the programme moves if a downpour strikes, so ask whether there is a back-up plan right after the price when you book.

On the daytime excursion side, you do not get a clear timetable either. On the page of the department that runs the TRNC's museums and archaeological sites, the "Summer Hours" label applies only to the period from 1 April to 31 October; no separate heading has been opened for winter. In practice, winter hours drop to the 08.00-15.30 band. 1 January is a public holiday, and 17 of the 33 museums and sites do not open on holidays and weekends anyway.

That said, this count was made in 2024, and relying on a two-year-old finding is not ideal, but the official source has still not published winter hours. The only way to avoid finding the gates closed is to call the place you are going before you set off...

The Right Month to Book

If you have read this far, the coverage is clear and the calendar comes next, because a closed archaeological site or a rainy gala spoils the plan but not the budget. What spoils the budget is the calendar. In a Cyprus New Year package the early booking window is September and October; once November arrives the price goes up and the chance of a free room at the property you like narrows.

Since all the figures used in our research belong to last season, the "book now" advice is limited to the band as well; the firm price becomes known in October and November. Book in September, or wait for the firm figure? The two calendars intersect right here, because the month the window narrows is the same month the price is announced. If you wait, you learn the figure, but in return you may lose some of your options.

The flight side is clearer. Last New Year season, for a 31 December departure and a 4 January return, a direct flight came to around 2,540 TL per person return. On the same dates you could see connecting flights reach 5,676 TL and, on some routes, exceed ten thousand TL. New Year fares do not spike the way Bayram fares do, but direct services sell out early, and a passenger who drops to a connection pays two to four times as much for the same journey.

This is where the cost of waiting on a Cyprus New Year booking shows up. By the time the figure is announced, the direct seats are long gone.
