Acapulco Beach (Catalkoy)

Two different prices apply on the same stretch of sand: only outside visitors pay at the gate, while hotel guests never stop at the ticket booth, because the beach is part of their accommodation package.

The good news is that a look at the summer 2026 prices shows you won't be left completely out of pocket. An adult ticket is 1,000 TL, and for little ones aged 4-11 it's 400 TL. If your youngest hasn't turned three yet, they get in for free... With a child's ticket coming to forty percent of an adult's, that familiar holiday burn on a two-child family's wallet eases a little. Better still, the money buys more than a sunbed and some sand; it throws the doors of the pools and the aquapark wide open too. You can't help thinking, "Why book a hotel room just for the slides?"

The same ticket also opens the complex's aquapark and pools, so booking a room at the hotel is not a must. The beach itself is in Catalkoy, 8 to 10 kilometres east of Kyrenia centre. Then there is the matter of hours: the operating day is split in two, and the park closes at midday. For a family arriving without staying at the hotel, the day's plan is shaped by exactly these two blocks, what the ticket covers, and the beach itself.

The Ticket Opens the Aquapark Too

The moment you hand over that money at the booth, the aquapark, pools, car park, sunbed and umbrella are all yours. When it comes to food and drink, though, the wallet has to come out again, and whatever you consume at the beach cafes goes on a separate bill. The tariff is strictly for a single day; turn up again the next morning and the booth shows no mercy, it issues a fresh ticket. Don't confuse the 1,000 TL with the cost of a night at the hotel; what you're paying for is that day's water slides and sand, nothing more. Since the car park is included in the ticket, the only extra to come out of a driver's pocket is food and drink. You need to go in knowing this - consider yourself warned.

Don't be confused if you see the name "Acapulco Beach Club" on sites like Tripadvisor - whatever the sign at the gate says, the place you enter and the power of the ticket in your hand stay the same. The most critical point is that the moment a child turns 12, adult pricing can apply. The discount only covers ages 4-11, so if you have a little one on the borderline, make sure you pocket their ID; you can be asked to prove their age at the gate. Of course, these are summer 2026 figures; what the prices and standards will be next year, nobody can say.

Gates Closed for Two Hours at Midday

The beach and aquapark open at 10.00 and close at 12.00; the second block starts at 14.00 and ends at 17.00. During the two hours in between, the park does not operate. Since the closed slot coincides with the hours when the midday sun is at its harshest, a family with small children retreats to the shade anyway, so the loss is not as big as it looks. Still, lunch calls for a decision: the cafe on the beach or somewhere in Catalkoy village. The morning block lasts two hours, the afternoon three. The longer block leaves more time for the slides, while the morning hours are better suited to the sea and the sunbed. Total use does not exceed five hours a day, and the ticket covers both blocks. Since the beach closes to day visitors after 17.00, an evening swim is in no way part of this ticket. Being at the booth at 10.00 also makes choosing a sunbed easier; on busy August days the first half hour decides the front row of the beach, and latecomers can end up drifting to the sections further from the cafe.

A Kilometre of Sand, a Gently Deepening Seabed

The beach is nearly a kilometre long and covered in that lovely fine, yellowish sand. When you walk into the sea, the water doesn't go over your head right away; even after wading out for metres, the bottom deepens ever so gradually. That, in fact, is the real secret behind why families with children make this place their base: these safe shallow waters. Since the sunbed and umbrella come with the ticket, there's no extra rental to worry about on the sand. But is a towel included? The ticket lists a sunbed but says nothing about towels, so the safest bet is to bring your own.

A lifeguard is on duty, and showers and changing cabins sit along the beachfront. A shower right above the sand looks like a small detail, but it means not carrying sand into the car on the way back. The beach cafe serves during opening hours, and its bill is kept separate from the ticket booth. There is no announced limit on the water and snacks you bring with you, but for lunch there are no options beyond the cafe and Catalkoy. Since the beach is shared with hotel guests, there is no fenced-off section reserved for day visitors. Along the kilometre-long strip, the crowd gathers mostly in the middle section near the cafe; anyone who walks towards the ends can find empty sunbeds.

The Slides Are on the Same Ticket

The aquapark section has a full 24 slides, some set aside for adults and some for the little ones. The split may show small variations from the published lists, but that total never changes. Because the children's pools sit in their own isolated corner within this area, the splashes from those coming off the giant slides never mix with the kids' pool. With a day ticket you have access to every one of the slides; on the stairs you queue shoulder to shoulder with hotel guests.

One small warning is a must, though - the aquapark is strictly seasonal, and in the winter months the slides fall silent. The facility doesn't announce a firm calendar: "definitely open in midsummer", but the situation at the "May" and "October" ends flexes with each year's conditions. Though the hotel hosts guests twelve months a year, the whole point of the day ticket only comes into its own during that hot season when the beach and aquapark are active. If you happen to pass by in winter you can go down to the beach, but the slide adventure is off - and that summer price list won't be hanging at the booth in winter anyway. Inside the facility, shuttling between the slide area and the beach is completely free; since the ticket covers both sides, there is no annoying second checkpoint inside. For a child who runs out of the sand in a wet swimsuit and leaps straight into the pool, this seamless setup turns the holiday day into one smooth whole.

Eight to Ten Kilometres from Kyrenia

The distance from Kyrenia centre to Catalkoy varies between 8 and 10 kilometres depending on the source. Since the facility's car park is included in the ticket, those arriving by car pay nothing extra. Catalkoy is the first major hotel cluster on the coastal strip east of Kyrenia, and "Acapulco" is one of the beachfront properties in that cluster. On the same coast road, behind the complex, lies the Neolithic settlement of Vrysi; it is a separate area from the beach and has absolutely nothing to do with the beach ticket. Walking distance or a line of sight from the beach is not published information, so it counts as a separate stop in the day's plan. Anyone wanting to make the morning block at 10.00 sets their departure time by this distance; heading back to Kyrenia during the midday break and returning for the second block means a two-way trip. For a day visitor to Acapulco Beach, the maths is short: in summer 2026 a couple pays 2,000 TL, a family of four with two children pays 2,800 TL, and food comes on top of that figure.
